Empowering Lifesavers: HIOWAA’s CPR Awareness Campaign

The Client

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) is a vital emergency service that provides life-saving air ambulance support across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Over the years, The Graphic Design House (TGDH) has partnered with HIOWAA to develop daily marketing materials as well as impactful fundraising and awareness campaigns. Our long-standing relationship has enabled us to deeply understand their mission and the critical role they play in the community.

The Opportunity

CPR is a crucial life-saving technique, but many people lack the confidence to perform it in an emergency. This campaign had the potential to empower communities with the knowledge and confidence needed to act swiftly and effectively, ultimately increasing the number of lives saved.In this project, HIOWAA entrusted The Graphic Design House with creating a comprehensive campaign identity for a new educational course aimed at raising awareness about the importance of CPR. The course’s primary objective was to boost confidence among various communities in performing CPR, a skill that can be the difference between life and death in emergencies.

Our Approach

Research and Strategy: We began by thoroughly researching the target communities to gain insights into their specific needs, concerns, and preferences. This research informed our campaign strategy, ensuring it was relevant and resonated well with the diverse audience we aimed to reach. Additionally, we studied existing CPR courses to understand what competitors were doing and identify opportunities to differentiate our approach.

Developing a Visual Identity: The next step was to create a compelling visual identity for the campaign. We designed a memorable logo and selected an appealing colour palette that conveyed the life-saving significance of CPR in a relatable and engaging manner. The visual identity was crafted to be instantly recognizable and evoke a sense of urgency and importance.

Creating Promotional Materials: To ensure the campaign reached and engaged a broad audience, we developed a range of promotional materials. These included informative posters, flyers, banners, and presentation decks, all tailored to cater to different learning styles and literacy levels. Our aim was to make the educational content accessible and inclusive for all community members, regardless of their background.

Leveraging Digital Platforms: Understanding the power of digital media, we extended the campaign’s reach by launching a series of social media campaigns. These campaigns were designed to amplify our message, engage with a broader audience, and encourage community members to participate in the CPR course.

So what? By creating a cohesive and impactful campaign identity, we not only educated communities about CPR but also empowered them with the confidence and skills needed to act in emergency situations. This campaign had the potential to save lives by increasing the number of individuals proficient in CPR, fostering a culture of preparedness across the region.

Results

The comprehensive campaign identity we developed for HIOWAA’s CPR course was well-received by the target communities. The combination of a strong visual identity, inclusive promotional materials, and strategic use of digital platforms ensured the campaign reached a wide audience. Community members felt more empowered and confident in their ability to perform CPR, contributing to a potentially life-saving impact across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

 

Next Steps

Building on the success of this campaign, we plan to continue our collaboration with HIOWAA, exploring additional opportunities to enhance their community outreach and education initiatives. Future projects may include expanding the CPR awareness campaign to cover more specific groups or developing new educational materials focused on other critical life-saving techniques.
