National Army Museum
The Client
The National Army Museum is a free entry museum based in the heart of London in the borough of Chelsea, and is the leading authority in the British Army and its impact on society, past and present. The museum holds five permanent galleries as well as two temporary exhibition spaces.
TGDH have been working proudly with the museum since 2023 on supporting them with their marketing requirements.
The first project we were chosen to collaborate on was the Chelsea History Festival. This included producing a new concept and layout for the 20pp programme and a suite of online and digital marketing assets.
This relationship then progressed to working on the creative for the museums regular campaigns.
The Opportunity
NAMs ‘Muster’ magazine is a free publication for visitors and members. It has previously been designed in-house and the layout lacked design consideration. As NAM have just completed a re-brand it was a perfect opportunity to upate the magazine.
Using the new NAM branding, we were tasked with re-designing their membership magazine to make it visually more engaging with a high end look and feel.
Our Approach
We presented a variety of creatives routes, which followed the guidance set out within the NAM brand toolkit. This included a new masthead design for the cover that is bold and attention grabbing.
Internally, we initially proposed that their new colour palette is used to full effect, giving a vibrant publication that feels very editorial.
After feedback, the use of colour was stripped back to keep accessibility to a maximum.
Results
The final product was a 32-page A4 summer magazine that perfectly encapsulated the essence of the army museum’s mission and vision. It featured a clean and clear typographical hierarchy, ensuring that readers could easily navigate through the content.
After the successful re-design of the National Army Museum’s visitor brochure, our team were also invited to bring to life their branding across a variety of other platforms, including digital banners, magazines, business cards, advertising materials, signage, and drop leaflets.
