The client

Badminton England is the national governing body for badminton in England, promoting the sport across all ages, abilities and backgrounds. From grassroots programmes in schools to elite talent pathways and major event delivery, the organisation creates opportunities to play, coach, volunteer and support the sport.

Through national initiatives and international competition, Badminton England works to grow participation while supporting athletes competing on the world stage.

The brief

The YONEX All England Open Badminton is the world’s oldest and most prestigious badminton tournament, delivering six days of competition including 155 matches and more than 50 hours of play.

For the past three years, we have worked with the team at Badminton England to design the official tournament programme. The publication needed to capture the energy and prestige of the event while providing fans with key information including the tournament draw, player profiles and editorial features.

We have worked with The Graphic Design House on the production of our official YONEX All England Open programme for the last three years and not only has the quality of their work been outstanding and the end product been very well-received by fans, volunteers, partners and senior staff alike, but the team have been a delight to work with – efficient, flexible and supportive in working to tight deadlines, creative but brand compliant and very receptive to feedback throughout the process.

Our approach

Working within YONEX’s established brand identity, we developed a bold and energetic programme design that balanced visual impact with clarity and readability.

Working with the YONEX brand

YONEX’s strong brand identity and vibrant colour palette provided a clear starting point for the design. The layouts were developed to maximise the impact of these colours while remaining consistent with the event’s established visual language.

Strong typographic headers and large-scale imagery were introduced to create a clear hierarchy across the pages. Generous white space was used throughout to support readability and help structure the content.

Results & next steps

The final programme provides a comprehensive overview of the tournament, including its history, the draw and detailed player profiles. Editorial features such as news updates and interviews add depth and context, helping readers stay informed while strengthening their connection to the event.

Designed as a bold and eye-catching publication, the programme reinforces the tournament’s brand presence among competitors, sponsors and fans alike.
