Designing the Jungle Book for Wiltshire Creative

Bringing party vibes to the jungle

The brief

Wiltshire Creative is a vibrant arts and education charity bringing together the energy of Salisbury Playhouse, Salisbury Arts Centre, and Salisbury International Arts Festival. They produce year-round events and performances for audiences of all ages across Salisbury and beyond.

For the 60th anniversary of Stage 65 Youth Theatre, Wiltshire Creative asked us to design the title treatment and show artwork for their summer production of The Jungle Book. This wasn’t a traditional retelling, they needed a bold, celebratory design that captured the production’s vibrant, playful spirit.

Our approach

We started with a collaborative call to dig into the brief and understand the creative direction. Set in a colourful, magical jungle, with surprises like a disco ball-swinging monkey, the show was full of energy, and the artwork needed to reflect that.

We explored references from other productions, gathered jungle-themed inspiration, and considered typography and colour palettes that would reflect the show’s upbeat tone.

Visiting the Bevington Road Houses and meeting the St Anne’s team gave us a feel for what made these buildings special, not just their heritage, but their heart. These weren’t just halls of residence. They were homes, full of stories.

Refinement and enhancement

With feedback from the Wiltshire Creative team, we built out the chosen direction. Making the colour palette more vibrant, enhancing the depth and adding dynamic shadowing for more dimensionality.

We created three initial design routes, each using layered jungle scenes to create depth and movement, with different visual textures and focal points.

Results & next steps

Wiltshire Creative were thrilled with the final design, which captured the youth theatre’s celebratory spirit with vivid colours, layered detail and joyful energy. It gave The Jungle Book a bold and unique visual identity, ready to stand out across platforms.

We’re excited to continue supporting Wiltshire Creative, with plans to extend our design work into their show programmes. By building on this creative momentum, we’ll help bring more of their events to life across multiple formats.
