Designing a catalogue that boosts sales
and customer experience

The brief

JRP is a family-owned independent business founded in 1981, supplying trade customers across the UK with automotive, home & leisure, tools, and cycling products. In 2024, the company continues to expand its range, offering over 4,000 products to meet market and customer demand.

JRP needed an updated product catalogue to provide clear and detailed information about their products, helping customers make informed purchasing decisions. The catalogue also needed to support easy navigation, showcase product ranges consistently, and guide readers to key promotions and website content.

Our approach

Reviewing previous designs

We started by reviewing the previous catalogue design files, identifying products to retain or remove based on client feedback. This approach provided a strong foundation and ensured continuity while simplifying the update process.

Navigation and user experience

To make the catalogue easier to use, we added a contents section to make it easier to reference, colour-coded section tabs on each page, a product and part number index at the back. These features allowed readers to locate products efficiently, even across a large, varied range.

Improving brand consistency

We simplified and standardised the style sheets, applying consistent fonts, colours, and layout rules throughout. This not only improved visual coherence but also sped up the process for adding and updating products.

We created a range of call-to-action elements, including promotional blocks in various sizes, highlighting best-sellers and directing readers to the website and social channels. These elements ensured the catalogue was not only informative but also actionable.

Results & next steps

The final catalogue is clear, visually appealing, and easy to navigate, with high-quality images, clear product descriptions, and concise information. Customers can quickly understand product features and benefits, supported by intuitive categorisation and indexing.

Following this project, The Graphic Design House has become a key design, print, and mail partner for JRP, regularly producing promotional leaflets from concept through to delivery.
