This is Croydon: Impact Report

The Client

Croydon’s year as London Borough of Culture 2023 was a big, bold, celebration of the communities of Croydon. A year-long programme ran April 2023 – March 2024 and showcased our world-leading artists and emerging talent. From music and dance to street art and food festivals, the year saw an array of vibrant cultural events, with communities coming together to discover new experiences and explore Croydon’s identity and heritage. This Is Croydon was created in partnership with the local arts sector, with inclusivity and accessibility at its heart. London Borough of Culture is a Mayor of London initiative.

The Opportunity

Using the supplied visual identity, TGDH were tasked with creating a number of deliverables, including an Impact Report. The report was to be presented to key funders and stakeholders at an event, and also available on the website as a public-facing document.

The Impact Report will also required the creation of infographics and a visually engaging timeline to show programme highlights

Our Approach

We initially designed two concept routes that looked at ways we could present the infographics and timeline. The visual identity included vibrant colours and interesting photography that we utilised to create a colourful, image lead design that had impact and engaged the reader.

The stand-out feature was the timeline. We were able to have full creative control on how this would be displayed. The design direction was based on the London Tube Map that travelled through the months (stations) to show the key events of the year. It took the centre spread of the report and used a gatefold to extend into a landscape poster, letting the viewer follow the full route from start to finish for maximum visual impact.

Results

A 48 page A4 Report that was full of colour, engaging photography, and text layouts that guided the reader with clear section breaks and easy to digest information.
