Sir George Monoux College

The client

Sir George Monoux is a sixth form college in Waltham Forest, London, offering a range of pathways including A-Levels, T-Levels, BTECs and vocational courses, with strong subject areas in STEM, Digital and Healthcare.

The brief

We have designed the college’s prospectus over a number of years, starting with the original creative concept and continuing through subsequent design refreshes. The prospectus needed to be clear and easy to navigate, helping prospective students explore subject areas confidently while maintaining a consistent and recognisable identity year after year.

Our approach

We structured the prospectus around strong navigation, consistent visual language and clear information hierarchy — creating a design system that could evolve over time while staying familiar to readers.

Colour-led navigation

The original concept was built around the college’s core colour palette, with distinct colours assigned to each subject area. This created quick recognition and helped guide readers through the prospectus with clarity.

Clear page structure

Subject pages were structured to alternate between tonal background colours and clean white pages. This introduced contrast, improved readability and supported a clear hierarchy that kept information logical and easy to digest.

Consistent graphic language

Graphic shapes derived from the college’s logo were used throughout the layout, creating a consistent design language. These elements supported the content by framing quotes, anchoring imagery and highlighting key information.

Strong section breaks

To define each section clearly, large full-bleed images were introduced across double-page spreads as visual breaks between subject areas. These were paired with a single consistent colour per section, allowing readers to understand where they were in the document at a glance.

Results

The original prospectus concept was well received and created a strong foundation for future editions. After the first prospectus was delivered, we were invited to subtly refresh the design for the following year, including the introduction of a new cover — keeping the prospectus feeling current while retaining its established visual identity.
